Hi everyone! I am a filmmaker from Spain and the solo developer behind THE TAPEWORM, an upcoming retro point-and-click adventure game built in Adventure Game Studio (AGS).

The Project & Current State (Quality of Effort):

The game is a dark comedy/mystery based on a VHS short film I shot with my friends back in 1994.

The most important thing you need to know is that the game logic, script, and puzzles are 100% finished. It is completely playable from start to finish and is currently in a closed Alpha testing phase hosted on my private testers' portal. This project will not die in development hell; it will be released.

THE TAPEWORM was originally written in Spanish, but the English translation is already 100% completed and implemented. You can choose to play in English or Spanish right at the boot screen. You do not need to speak Spanish to join the team!

Currently, the game runs entirely on placeholder graphics and temp audio. I am now looking to form a small team to replace these with final, high-quality assets.

What I am looking for:

1. Pixel Artist (Backgrounds & Characters):

To replace the draft graphics with final 320x200 pixel art. The aesthetic is heavily inspired by classic LucasArts games (specifically the cinematic, realistic scale and lighting of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis).

Environments: You will need to design backgrounds (some with a 9-verb GUI, some full screen) and cutscenes.

Characters: You will need to review, polish, and complete 20 character sprite sheets. Most of the base animations are already done, but I need a pixel art specialist to refine them and create the missing animations. This includes talk cycles (head and mouth movements in classic LucasArts style), idle/personality animations, and some specific actions.

2. Composer:

To create an original soundtrack (around 47 tracks, including a main theme, room ambiances, and short cues). The style should blend dark comedy with mystery and atmospheric tension. Crucially, the music must sound like a classic 90s PC game. I am not looking for modern, realistic orchestral music, but rather a retro sound reminiscent of classic sound cards of that era (Sound Blaster 16, Roland MT-32, AdLib, etc.).

Compensation:

My base offer is a Rev-Share agreement (percentage of all future game sales, regardless of the platform) + full credits. This is a great opportunity for artists looking to add a guaranteed, fully-coded published game to their portfolio.

However, if you are an experienced professional with a strong portfolio that perfectly matches the requested 90s aesthetic, I am open to PAID commissions (paid per background/track/sprite sheet).

More Info & Contact:

You can see the placeholder gameplay trailer and the 30-year backstory on the official website:

Let's make a great retro game together!

Hey thanks for the job recommendation Asensio. I do want to try working on the art for the characters and backgrounds. I've just never drawn in LucasArts style before but I think some style study and communication could solve it! If you want talk on Discord, my username there is imonk#8030.

Hi! I just sent you an email with my matched character sample regarding the character sprite artist position. The project looks very interesting, especially the classic LucasArts-inspired approach and the fact that the game is already fully playable. Looking forward to hearing from you, and best of luck with the alpha testing

Hello, my name is Christopher, I am a music composer and I would love to work with you on this. I can create all the tracks, ambiences and sfx if needed. My email is krystof.kosar@email.cz and discord is Krysor. If you'd like, I can send you some examples of my music that I will make for this type of aesthetic. I am excited for possible collaboration. Best regards!

Hey, I just sent  you an email. If you want to talke more add me on discord: andremenegazzo
Thanks

Hey! I'm a composer and sound designer with 5 years of production experience — I work across a pretty wide range of styles (orchestral, electronic, indie folk, synthetic/ambient) so I can usually match whatever vibe a project needs.

I've produced music for YouTube, short films, and video games, and one of my original compositions was actually performed live by a full orchestra. I also put out free-to-use sound packs that other creators actively use if you want a sense of my range:
