Oh, man, I just love this writing so damn much. The consistency, the little self-indulgent references. It's so damn good.
I played this throughout the whole day, so when they were at the fountain and it was morning? Morning for me too. I swear by the time I got to the night fountain I looked outside and it was goddamn black so non-intentionally, I synced this up perfectly. (I love that context for the tale, now I wanna go to their library too ^-^)
I love the kinda hard to see floral patterns on the images, they're a real nice detail.
[SPOILERS INCOMING]
I love the relationship with Celtis so damn much. Damn, does it hit hard. Cuz I got attached to him, the same as my boy Gerry, but then he did WHAT in the past!? Gerry nooo... You just wanted parental validation wth. And then Celtis STILL goes on to say the "be a man" bs. For the Father's sake! What happened to him in his past dear lord. And we can see how toxic his love is. Nobody cares about bringing the prince back when he resigns his job posting, but Mr Zealot still has to go on a wild Don Quixote journey cuz he thinks it's what the prince ought to do, cuz he lived his whole life for his faith. He must have pruned so many parts of himself too... Unfortunately, what our parents think is best for us isn't always so. It's so freeing seeing Gerry realize that, but it's also heart-breaking. (I'll never forgive Celtis for "this was meant to toughen him up" tho)
How powerless Celtis really was all along. There never was a physical danger, the only power he had was purely psycologhical, the strings of manipulation rooted deep within a poor child.
Oberhau is literally the living Hedgehog's dilemma (The idea of memorizing and knowing where all the thorns are is just so... enchanting). Oberhau and Gerry have so much in common. Even the whole "I wish you didn't have to see me like this" and I'm all for it. It's interesting how Oberhau has somewhat attained the desire of being something else or nothing at all, whereas Gerry is just starting that journey. And in Oberhau's case, the expectations simply became different. It fell from one label right into another. It could not escape from the weight of social pressure by playing directly into society's rules, only through interpersonal relationship was that achieved.
The one time Oberhau repeats the same error it did back then and harms its liege only to spend hours looking for herbs to heal the very damage it caused.
I love how Geranium's whole name is always showing. It really serves as a reminder that "hey, this isn't Gerry! Gerry is a nickname that was acquired. It's not a name that was freely given"
The one line about the rabbit's den, but how they're expecting baby rabbits instead of barbecue made my heart melt.
I see you sneaking the word "closteiring" right at the very end I see you
I'm totes making a wallpaper with Gerry and Oberhau.
Clair de Lune used to remind me of a very specific VN that I love. I guess now it shall remind me of 2.
There must be many things I forgot along the way or outright misinterpreted but thank y'all for creating this, it was absolutely amazing and I felt I'd rather write smth than not at all. This much text borders on incoherent sometimes...
It had been 2 months since I last cried, so thanks for resetting that counter! This one thanks thee, from the bottom of its core.
