this was never really a thing also the portrait updating affects your states so having it fade away has gameplay benefits to the user namely how to know when temporary morality resets among being able to tell when you acquire debuffs from food
I could have sworn I tinkered with something like that. I bought the game about three years ago and I thought there was an option for this. I seem other games of this nature have these portraits update in real time to show the equipment and status effects. But anyway thanks for replying.
