So like all the others below, I clicked out upon realising my camera would be needed to play. I fully understand where you're coming from in your responses, it's the core mechanic of the game and there's so many cameras in the world - what's the harm in one more?

I'd say that it's a camera capturing you in a personal setting, most likely your home, the output of which we don't know what will be done with it. Rather than it being a camera we have no control over, we have the possibility to say "no".

I'm not raising this as a negative, more that it is like when people don't include a web build for a game jam and instead only have a downloadable .exe file - it's totally fine to do, as long as you're ok understanding that as a result you'll get far fewer people playing your game.

I love the idea of your game though, and hope you had a good time making it!

That is honestly a completely fair point and intended emotional response.

The whole idea of the game is that "slight" discomfort of "I am connecting my own camera to some weird containment surveillance system over the internet and maybe this is a terrible idea". Even if rationally you know it’s just a 3 hour jam game, the POSSIBILITY is a part of horror effect. The network connection itself is basically irreplaceable lore mechanic and part of the setting.

If someone plays Skyrim and decides to stay in the prison cell because escaping jail would be illegal that is technically a valid roleplay choice.

Still, only because I like foxes almost as much as otters and [DATA EXPUNGED], I somehow bullied .exe version specially for you. Electron fought me every step of the way and continues to be a deeply suspicious pile of shioftware.

So yes, now you can literally download it, unplug your internet cable like it’s 199█ and play completely offline with absolute certainty nothing is being sent anywhere and no extramaterial entity is watching you while you are watching it. The tradeoff is that the local build is cursed. Webcam detection and performance are unstable, and the overall “someone might actually be watching me” SCP energy takes a big hit.

But it does work. Against all odds, initial idea and nature itself.

Now go enjoy the offline version in the "safety" of your box, my fellow coward fox!
