Pretty much, yes, I switched to ren'py since then
Alrighty, so I'm not sure if I should view this as a complete proof of concept, or a teaser for more. I'll try to judge it as both.
Art: I can tell you've done MLP in the past (ignoring your PFP, lol). The only real complaint I can say is that some of the CGs don't mesh with the others. Some look like they were rendered in much more detail. There is also some light off-modelling. Did you update some of the CGs, or do them in batches a few weeks/months apart?
Writing: One thing that confuses me is she's called Isabelle in the previews, but in-game she's called Easybelle? I guess this is done to keep a certain sue-happy company at bay.
Here's the part where my review varies depending on whether this is a preview or a proof of concept. Having 2 options is fine if this is just a fuck around thing, but an entire VN only having a "advance the plot" route, or "hear a joke and get a game over" is kinda not good.
Gonna sound a bit harsh, but the jokes right now are just a copypasta (which irked me in hindsight when I got to the actual sex, I'll explain by the end) and a Anchorman meme. The "actually I just wanted to drink coffee" game over could be viewed as homophobic if you looked at it too hard "Oh, you DIDN'T want to immediately have sex with your secretary? Well, you must be gay then" I do NOT think it was really meant to be that, but yeah.
Overall: Perfectly fine as a proof of concept. Needs work if this is intended to be a teaser of an updated version, with a major focus on writing.
Dumb thing that only I take gripe with: I didn't like that the mayor was an anthro. I think him being a human is a big selling point to Animal Crossing.
If this is made into a longer project, an option for this would be much appreciated.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Let's see:
- art
Yeah, it was actually years apart. I started this little project a long time ago and forgot about it twice. This one I'm actually going to fix!
- writing
Oh yeah, this probably won't be my strong suit. For the most part (and especially when it comes to jokes), please don't take it too seriously. About Isabelle - I was a little concerned Nintendo might not like what I do, so just one week before release I changed her name. It also helps make the story feel less serious. But I haven't updated some old screenshots yet. Going to fix that too.
About the jokes, I guess they're questionable, but I kinda like them. I'll see what I can do.
- anthro
Sorry about that. I definitely don't want to make two versions, and I'm not a big fan of human/furry action in general. So probably not gonna happen, but something might change my mind.
