Is the design a harem mandatory for the narrative, or can the player go for a single IL?
You can go for a single LI if you want. Everything is entirely optional, you can even go the whole game without ever doing anything NSFW towards a woman at all. That will trigger the Gay Ending, where you reveal you were gay the whole time.
