It's a bug, Ideally that wouldn't happen but alas I made it in a day and a half. If you were going to lose the hand anyway it never bothers to adjust the UI to show the lower value for the aces. The bust text just comes after as a decoration. Having one card down for each side was important due to the dice mechanic, it was way too easy without it.
