I can see that a lot of effort is put to make the UX better for the player. It is chaotic but in a good way. Non stop action and very satisfying to see the enemies explode. I think if the enemies came in waves and you had different upgrades in between the waves, it could be a good mechanic. But maybe you were not going for that vibe. Nevertheless  It is a very polished game and I enjoyed playing it

Indeed I had that idea, but given the time constraint I decided to try and polish everything as much as I could instead of adding sloppy mechanics that weren't fully tested. If given more time (maybe in the future) waves and upgrades are most likely the way to go.
