By defeating enemies in portals, you'll receive loot — items. Each of them will turn into dust when you exit the map through a portal. Special dust comes from boss items, regular dust comes from anything else. Stones can be obtained from crystal mountains (a tile on the map). Don't forget to transfer items to your inventory.
