I'm The Chromatic, Dragon Egg Studio's lead 2D/3D artist. The 16-bit RPG register you're after — Final Fantasy, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Pokémon FireRed — is exactly the visual language I work in, and a small village build with a castle, shop, and blacksmith is a clean, scoped piece of work I'd be glad to take on for the initial paid map.
Map design and tile setup is in my lane. I'm comfortable working from existing tilesets like the ones on itch.io to keep your budget tight, or building custom tiles where the available ones don't quite fit the village you have in mind. I can deliver in SpriteFusion, Tiled, or whatever editor you prefer — walkable/non-walkable layers configured cleanly, and a clean exported JSON that drops into your Unity migration without re-authoring. The studio behind Temple Run 2 backs me up if scope grows.
You'd be hiring me — not the whole party. I'd be your single point of contact, see this map through to completion, and won't be swapped for another artist without your knowledge and consent. The studio's senior team sits behind me as a safety net, not a competing priority on your project — meaning when an edge case comes up (collision quirks, layer boundaries, atlas optimization for the Unity build), I have peers to consult without expanding your contract.
A few quick scope questions before I quote: tile size and overall canvas dimensions, whether the castle/shop/blacksmith need interiors or just exteriors for the village pass, and which editor you'd like the source file delivered in. Once those are clear I can put a flat in front of you.
Ready to talk scope and timeline whenever you are.
