After some playing of the game, I found out I didn't talk to Mikail in his room enough (thanks, Jen, for the help!). I got more questions though, like the lil curious grubber I am
Can we get some general lore or fun facts about the elven population? They are the race that piques my interest the most. I'm fine with any tidbits of lore, but Ig my question is about weaving. Can only elves do it? (Sorry if this is already answered in the game; I'm not quite yet finished.)
Hi Perseus,
Did you read everything in the library?
spoilers:
The Elven culture is very structured/hierarchical. There was a time in history when it was more meritocratic during the "Golden Age of Weaving" when weavers have the most power and influence in society. During this time, they spread the art of weaving to humans and beast tribe, seeking to create a multi-culture, multi-race enlightened Utopia. This sounded good in theory, but there was a lot of reckless use of weaving and the elves were scared into an anti-weaving mindset when some weavers began using the arts to procreate/ produce mix race offspring, fearing the eradication/depurification of the Elven race. The Council of elven nobles were granted power to force weavers to register with the state and were essentially "bound" to serve the state under tight restrictions and observation. Shadow weavers like Noctisse and Ilyon practice weaving outside the regulation of the Elven Council and are fugitives. Beast tribe never accepted the Elven diplomacy, so they remained mostly in self isolation before and after the golden age. They have their own way spiritual culture and exploring the void called dream walking. humans history was revisionist to have a somewhat limited version of weaving that is run by the Human Church that was taught by the Elves to keep humans at a more primative culture than the elves, spread by their propoganda and monitored closely by diplomacy. Ilyon's biological parents were an elf and human diplomats that fell and love and concieved Ilyon outside of modern weaving arts (most likely some leftover fluke from the Golden Age) so you can probably guess from this history why he, his parents and everyone around Ilyon were persecuted.
