Have you played Chants of Sennaar? Because the puzzle mechanic of translating unknown language terms is VERY similar in some ways to your basic puzzle solving concept. I can see this game as that idea merged with the mystery elements you mentioned (Obra Dinn, etc) and it makes for a fantastic hybrid of puzzle structure and narrative mystery. I think the mixture you used in this game works really well.

I'm also super impressed that somehow you did this in 72 hours. I suck at game jams. My problem's always seemingly endless delays due to feature creep and too many projects I'm rotating between. And at some point I just need to accept that an actual released project is better than a bigger, more ambitious and polished, but never finished thing.

I mean, I have gotten some stuff out there, but mostly just low priced game asset packs at this point. I've got 5000+ asset files released across 12+ packs by now. And they're increasingly well reviewed and well liked but I do need to move forward faster on actual game dev. Because the actual game projects I have on my itch.io page are mostly barely moving lately.
