You’ll notice the art I’m drawing for the game is amateurish. That’s because it is. I started drawing again like, three weeks ago.

Why? First, I am not, and never will, use AI generative art. A lot of my friends are excellent artists and I’ve seen the pain that AI art causes. One would think we’d build machines to do the tasks we don’t want to do, leaving us time to do things we like. Like writing and visual art.

Apparently not.

Fuck AI.

Secondly, I don’t quite have the money to pay folks for all the art I’d like and I don’t pester my friends for free art. That being said all of my previous covers were drawn by art I’ve commissioned and I plan to purchase real art from professionals for future books.

Thirdly, my beginner, childish art vibe kinda fits this game. So I think it’s the prefect place to hone my drawing skillz.

Finally, I’m having fun. I used to draw as a kid but gave it up after high school. Drawing again has sparked a joy in my life that I forgot I had.

So, while Orboboros won’t feature A class art, it will feature something that’s from the heart. I hope folks like it. Even if not though, that’s fine. I’m doing this for me!

If you want to see a true artist though, check out Xenotropos, she did my cover for As Above, So Below. She’s awesome: https://bsky.app/profile/xenotropos.bsky.social
