I think if you make a jam with some of the strawberry pieces still in-tact, you don't have to break them down as much. A fruit salad would also have rather large pieces in it. But I guess the size just comes down to preference and HOW MUCH of the recipe you want to make. I usually also eat them fresh, but I also eat a lot, so I guess I would technically prefer larger berries! ʕ·͡ᴥ·ʔ
