You should see quest markers on the world map for some of the companion quests (only Slith's is after Falgar's Castle). Karas: Go to Akoh (Goblin town), Mattis: In Rok's Fort (cellar). You may want to gain some experience and buy equipment on Falgar's floating island, though.
