The initial automatic story triggers were originally intended as a setup to kick off the storylines for the five main characters, but now it seems that approach might be confusing and hard to follow. In fact, we did consider cutting some of the character storylines partway through development. However, since the game’s core gameplay is relatively simple and relies heavily on experiencing various story branches, we ultimately decided to keep them.
