I think you can proceed just as you are now. Since it is a traditional RPG style, it should be almost fully compatible. What I need right now is a character whose sprite appears when equipping items, but since that is a different asset from the current one, I hesitate to make that request. I also sincerely thank you.
Interesting! My understanding is that you want a sprite for when your character (any character... A CHARACTER!) equips an item, and so appears to be holding something? Perhaps with an attack animation as well? Or what type of equippable item? I love to learn, and I am teaching my self more and more as I go! A character is on my list, and I've been working on a "Lil_Dude_Joe" lol!!! Thats what Im calling him at the moment! Currently he has a few glitchy animation loops, but he's not quite ready, and I do NOT have a "holding item" - I will google and youtube the logic for it, and figure it out for you! I'd love to!
If this is NOT what you meant, please don't hesitate to clarify - because you maybe are asking for an NPC character that appears when the player's character picks up an item? Or something else entirely! Let me know!

As you mentioned, it would be great if I could at least change weapons. Regarding the character, I am looking for one suitable for side-scrolling Korean games like MapleStory, Ghost Online, or Latale. A common feature of these games is the ability to customize characters. Additionally, I need attack and hit animations. I am currently developing an online game by myself, and if the quality of the assets is worth purchasing, I will do so if possible.

I've been working on my first character. I don't think he is in Korean RPG style, but.... This.... is Joe! hahaha - "Lil Dude Joe" to be specific!! I have been working on him in the background but he is in NO way finished or polished. But so far he has idle, walk, and jump almost done, as well as pick up, carry, and axe attack animations in progress.
However, if he's not quite what you're after, and if you are interested in something specifically to your needs, I would be super happy to chat about what you want in more detail!!
