I also wanted to know what the point of the "theme, event, story" categories are supposed serve? They aren't built into the system with the instructions, so they seem like an isolated component? I know they are supposed to serve as inspiration, but for what?
Otherwise, I feel like I'm just choosing "Explore the City" and hope that I get a face card without any real push to do any other actions?
I feel like I'm missing a huge chunk of this game.
If the instructions for "Explore the City" forced you to roll from the city list for "Event and Story", that would make more sense. But it doesn't, so having to do it myself feels kind of arbitrary and unnecessary, especially since some of words of the chart are extremely ambiguous.
Also, how does "Extract Information" work?
I could ask the Ruffian in the Arts area a question, right? But then what? What question am I asking him and I make up some answer, again, without reward or consequence? It's the only one that doesn't have a "Hope, Haunt, Horror" system, next to Beseech Lilith.
She sounds like she is the defining factor of a toss up, but I don't feel like I would ever ask a yes/no question in this system?
Then there's the token.
Not once do I see mention of you needing to use this token, or that you have to give it up or get it back. What does this do?
I hope these questions don't come off as too criticizing, but I'm genuinely confused and hoping you can clear some of this up.
I love the premise and the game could be really fun. Any insights you can offer would be great!
