*Note: The following review contains spoilers. If you are reading this before correctly answering the murderer, you have been warned.

First off, the art and music are phenomenal. Besides having a visually unique and charming art direction, the vibrant and distinct colors of key elements (the cards, mirror, and crystal ball) make them easy to tell apart from each other and the table itself. The music is also subtle in a good way, and sets the atmosphere without being distracting.

Perhaps a color blindness option would be something to consider for the final game. Rather than just relying on an option to change the color palette, I would recommend having the suit symbol also show up in the crystal ball  and mirror.

The only gripe I have with the demo is the detective aspect. While the red herrings with the drinks and scarfs are fun to deal with, there is very little to suggest that the badger is the culprit without a shadow of doubt. The party being at the badger's estate isn't concrete evidence that he's the murder on its own.

The only thing to suggest that it wasn't the rabbit was that the spear was gone along with the badger in Scene 4, while the rabbit was still there. Still, this leaves the possibility of the rabbit setting up the spear near the murder scene ahead of time. Perhaps leaving the badger's monocle or something else belonging to him near the suit of armor would pin him more to the crime.

Overall though, great experience, can't wait to see more. 9/10

Thank you for playing!

And thank you for mentioning a potential colorblind mode. Are you colorblind yourself, or a developer? I’m really curious how you spotted this issue so quickly — there aren’t any explicit hints in my post, just appreciation.

As for the detective aspect, it’s currently very close to how it was during the game jam — not because of laziness, but because we’re planning to rework the system entirely for the full game. That will require significantly more time and attention.

Did you find any other evidence against the badger? Or any alibis for the other characters?

As a developer, I’d rather not point out the key details hidden in the images myself, but hopefully other players who noticed something will join the discussion and share their findings.

Ah, it was based on the game jam version, gotcha.

I playtest games for companies on the side as freelance work, so I'm used to writing reviews and pointing out issues/suggestions.

Ah, that explains a lot! Thank you for your professional feedback!

No problem, looking forward to see where this game goes.
