Story game of proportions (thought to be) impossible at a game jam.

There is a LOT to like about this game. The visuals are striking (they are godly) and the music works very well. The ingredients are creatively used but aren't jumping out (they don't feel forced). But then there is the story. A LOT of it.

I think that is what it will come down to. I personally LOVED it. The characters felt real and unique with their own (often bombastic) personalities. It all made sense and created a world that felt believable and creating relationships with NPC's, that ultimately help you, felt rewarding.

On the other hand if you are not a "reader", you might struggle with this one. There is A LOT of dialogue. I played it with a friend and we spent close to 2 hours in the game (we read - and voiceacted - everything). That is a commitment. The writing, although on a super high level, can drag and repeat itself a bit at times. Also after spending this amount of time in a game the music does start to feel a bit repetitive (but that's nitpicking now).

Overall a very impressive game where the biggest strengths might be its biggest weaknesses. And it just comes down to if you are willing to give it the time it deserves.

Very well done to the entire team!

Thank you so much for such an amazing review! The fact that you dived into the story so deeply and even voice-acted it kinda blew my mind. Thank you for showing our piece so much love! We tried to make the characters and the game as alive as possible, so I am glad it all went as planned!

On the other hand, we also knew that you – the player – would either love it or hate it, depending on whether you are a story game player or not. But we came to the conclusion that we will stick with the long story and make it its main strong point. Due to that, it unfortunately is not a game for just anybody. But... isn't that what can be said about all kinds of games? :D

The repetitiveness of the writing is sometimes what I wanted to do – especially for the pickups or meeting the same character several times. To enhance the feeling that it has already happened once, that your mind – and the hive – remembers and feels exactly the same, or even just some kind of déjà vu. But if it was bothering you at some point, we should look into it! :D

However, thank you so so much once again. We are glad you liked it so much!
