How does the ball minigame work? I interact with the table and theres no ball, when I interact with the ball at the side, I can only pick it into my inventory. And when i select it from my inventory I can only discard it.

Oh, I see now. You have to click on the left entrance of the board

yuppers. Some of the prop interactions are a bit counter-intuitive since interactions like that only check if the object is in your inventory without any text prompt.
