This made me feel disgusting in the best way possible.

(Also mild spoiler warning)

I feel guilty just how quickly I went for what I thought were the worst possible options during the dream, not even considering the options to turn back. There's something about being in a dream, living in Bao's head, that makes it easy to indulge in her depraved fantasy. Trying the other options made it obvious how hard it is to change this girl's nature, which in turn also made me feel helpless to that nature.

Doric's music is also SO GOOD, I love how the tension escalates during the fight, and those unnerving synths towards the end. Even early on, the music has this calm but Not Quite Right energy to it.

The pixel art is also very nice. The characters have that distinct 3D-ish Koikatsu look to them, but it works well here, I think. The backgrounds also translated really well, and I like the palette choices. I'm not too familiar with how Ren'py works, but considering how it's normally designed for higher res games I'm super impressed with the authenticity of the presentation.

LOL I was telling a friend "I think I did an okay job hiding the 3d, but anyone who knows what koikatsu uniforms look like is gonna peg it immediately". The low resolution was a lot less challenging that I thought it would be, outside of a glitch with the web compiler that eventually got fixed. The real challenge with doing low res in renpy is basically just that you kinda have to hand tweak every menu, but I'd have to do that in any other engine too, so it wasn't too bad. Also yeah, Doric killed it, especially with how she managed to escalate the uneasy emotions as we got deeper and deeper.

Anyways, disgust is definitely the perfect emotion and I'm glad people could buy into Bao's headspace rather than just finding her gross and annoying. Thank you for such kind words! 😭
