forgive me for this very long comment

keep in mind that with this comment it is feedback and how i would improve , that does not mean i think i could do better. (you checked out mine, its not great mainly because of me and my partners time management)
also the good feedback are shorter then bad feedback because in bad i also tell how i would fix it.

comment after playing for a bit but not finishing:
for some reason i just like games where you have to unlock different areas and stuff to progress, so i will probably enjoy this. the pixel art looks cool.

skip this if you don't wanna have negative feedback and how i would fix it.
things i think you can improve on, maybe ditch the pixel art, or have another movement system that just does not feel so "modern". having higher pixel art resolutions also helps a little. oh yeah one last thing that i know helps SPECIFICLY FOR PIXEL ART: in your engine, DO NOT use velocity for movement system unless you know what you are doing. instead of using velocity for movement system try editing the position variables instead. trust me, this helps. also bonus game look points if you have consistent pixel sizes and the movement system moves you one (or 2, depending on resolution) pixel art pixel.

game after beaten:

uh well i think i covered most in the top but i also got stuck on the orange door.

skip this if you don't wanna have negative feedback and how i would fix it.
maybe add stuff that makes this game unique.  just felt that it was (no offence just feedback here) kinda bland gameplay. maybe make a gameplay loop where the game could be replayed a little. also maybe items that make it special other then DA BOX. like maybe a flashlight.  sorry for calling it not super unique but i still enjoyed it. also to make it more scary there are many tutorials out there. but as someone with no experience whatsoever making horror games (i just play them and see what i like best and take notes in my mind) what i recommend is using the fear of the unknown as much as you can to your advantage. like instead of showing a monster in the game maybe have the lights flash sometimes and when it does you see a quick shadow pass by. this note is only for jumpscare type of horror games and not the creepy type or the nightmare fuel type: you have to analyze what is needed to scare someone to the max and amplifying it to the max. for example: popular gullible little cousin scarer, scary maze game (yes i know i used that on my sister too),  uses both surprise and focus to scare you, that means that it gets you by surprise, and to help with getting you by surprise it makes the 3rd level really hard and you need to come close to the screen and focus very hard to go  beat the level. when you are focused you let your guard down and thats when it hits you.

We did have a bluelight flashlight planned but same as you, we did not have much time. I had to scrap some ideas to get it in on time and a flashlight was one of those
