Hi my friend!

That's a beast of a setup! A 5090 with 96GB RAM should handle almost anything, so let's figure out why it's tripping.

To help me investigate the crashes, could you please provide your full specs and QualityScaler settings? Specifically:

  • OS: (e.g., Windows 10/11)
  • CPU: ?
  • GPU Driver Version: (important for the 5000 series)
  • AI Model used: (RealESRGANx4 or others?)
  • Input File Type: (Video or Image?)

In the meantime, testing with AI Multithreading OFF is a great first step to see if it's a synchronization issue.

Looking forward to your details!

First of all, sorry for getting back to you so late and for not including all the details right away in my first message.

AI multithreading did indeed cause the crashes. To reproduce the issue, I turned it back on again. The error message I’m getting is:

“Upscale error - Please report the error on GitHub or Telegram - utf-8 codec can't decode byte 0xfc in position 363: invalid start byte.”

Here are my specs and settings:

  • OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • CPU: i7 13700K
  • NVIDIA Driver: 591.86 (I guess I should probably update, but it caused some issues last time)
  • AI Model: RealESRGANx4 (only happens with this one)
  • Input: Video (codec: hevc_nvenc)
  • Input scale: 100
  • Output scale: 100
  • GPU VRAM: 30
  • Image output: .png
  • Video output: .mp4
  • AI multithreading: 8 threads

I also noticed that you released a new version — should I try it with that one?

Another thing I’ve observed: the audio becomes out of sync when using the AI models RealESR_Gx4 and AX4. It starts off fine, but around halfway through the video the audio no longer matches.

I’m going to test this in the new version as well. I hope it’s okay if I leave a comment there about it — I don’t want to spam. If it’s an issue, I’ll of course delete it again.

Thanks again!

Hi my friend, don t worry about me, i am here to help!

yeah maibe the driver is problematic, lately NVIDIA GameReady drivers haven't been very stable and have a number of issues; you should try the ‘Studio’ drivers, which are much more stable.

Have you also tried setting the multithreading value to different numbers (2 or 4) with RealESRGANx4 ?

This happens with all videos? or just one in particular?
