The events at the beginning of the game are mostly set, but the following events (and thus Jane's attitude) change based on the choices she makes as a captain. Like, if she decides to attack the enemy ship, her words in the next letter are hostile as well. While she and the Commander broke up a long time ago, there is a chance they could reconcile (if they can forgive each other)
