I definitely agree with you about the early game feeling quite a bit arduous.
Our idea of the game was escaping micromanaging, so the first couple of days should portray complete micromanaging.
As you progress, managing the team of miners becomes less and less tedious.
Nevertheless, while making the game we were constantly thinking about adding automation without losing the managing part of the game, as you mentioned.
