Ellie choosing her own name is very crucial to the story because Spring in Her Step is very much a story about her finding herself and changing her destiny to live in the way that makes her happy. Although we're pleased so many of our players can relate to her story, we feel the game would have lost a lot of its impact had Ellie not been an established protagonist and had just been a self-insert character for the player. As such, it was important that our protagonist was able to shed her old life as Redacted and step into her new life as herself: Ellie, a girl loved by her girlfriend, her friend, and herself.
Having said that, though, I hope it becomes more commonplace for you to be called Sylvie by those in your life because you absolutely deserve that! Everyone deserves to be seen for who they are. :"3
