It's ok, but extremely buggy. On multiple occasions I crashed into a car that had spawned just in front of me, and found driving was hard due to my controller's heavy forward stick drift and inability to set a deadzone. (just tapping forward would cause a nosedive.) Camera controls requiring me to press the RStick is a little annoying, but it's even worse considering it swaps it from an uncontrollable chase mode to orbit. I also feel that most of the effort put towards this game was solely on modeling, as the detail is quite good.
I didn't end up actually racing (as I said, stick drift), but from what I've seen, the other cars in races follow really basic paths, just like the traffic.


Smaller nitpicks:

  • Traffic LOD levels are messed up, going from High to Low only 2 car-lengths away
  • No FPS cap, instantly maxing my GPU and sending it's temp to the thermal-throttle limit 60℃ (might not be an fps problem, but I've only ever seen my GPU max when I was playing a game that allowed insane framerates)
  • I was thinking that the thrusters may tilt depending on speed and angle of the car (seeing as the background of this itch page has the car's thrusters tilted) but sadly no.
  • Tiny maps (maybe fixed in 0.4? the map in the "0.4 in construction" devlog's vid looked bigger)
  • SteamVR immediately opens on start, and the game somehow crashed it once.

Also, why is the folder that would normally be "data" called "PnkRnr_Remake"? Have you tried this before?
If you were the only one who made all the models and textures in this game, you could probably make pretty good money...
