The appimage has an outdated library bundled in it. I got the same error. I unpacked the appimage and removed the libgmodule-2.0.so.0 file, then repacked it. Another user just run the game using Lutris and worked. However, I suspect the best option for getting the proper experience is running it in a Windows virtual machine since it interacts with the Windows OS in unique but fails on Linux. The Linux support for this game is unfortunately half-ass.
