How do I recruit holoryx to my party? currently he's on my ship and the only option I have is to throw him out of the airlock

Well, I didn't pick that route, but if Holoryx is on your ship I assume that means you sided against him. If there is no option to recruit him, either you haven't talked to Isaac about it (possibly because Isaac isn't on your ship), or possibly Garth rules floor 1 (Dunno if this prevents it, but I know the Garth content is incomplete).
