I think the entire ring thing is massively bugged. If you just say "Not today," it never shows up again and has no mechanical effect but the flavor text still acts like you're wearing it.
EDIT: Okay, there are just tons of bugs all over. The money gain has absolutely zero relevance to the amount displayed next to it. Some jobs are completely inaccessible. Leveling up just... increases your health, a stat which doesn't seem to matter at all. The instructor tells you to go to their office on Thursday, but they have no office, so you can't. Skipping classes seems to have zero impact on anything. Studying increases your willpower despite claiming to increase your intelligence.
