I've seen a couple people fail to trigger the true ending by quitting the game- I think it's a glitch, sadly. There *is* a true ending, and it *does* require quitting the game at the Starbucks. The game requires you to quit after Kate finishes speaking and exits, and before the final Starbucks. If you have a save period *between* these points and you load into that, the game won't recognise the trigger for the true ending and it will just close normally.
I'm sorry about the error and the confusion. A patch will be coming very soon to make sure everyone can always trigger the true ending by quitting at the right time.
(If you replay the final chapter from start to finish, then choose to quit at the final Starbucks, it should be guaranteed to work)
