Even if you overscoped for the game jam, the core idea here is really solid and works well! Depending on another, stationary character to deal damage is very clever and fits the theme perfectly. I wish that the upgrades were more impactful, but even incorporating an upgrade system in the first place is impressive.

Thanks I appreciate it. There were more upgrades planned, but the shop ended up barely being able to squeeze in there. The upgrades available there now were, what I thought, the quickest ones I could get away with implementing. We had stuff in mind, like throwing a potion to slow enemies down and stuff.
