I’m also very interested in your note about radiation-related items feeling useless. Do you remember which items those were? And when you found them, how did finding them feel in the moment?

I don't remember, maybe all of them except the item which constantly removes 1 radiation per turn. All the items that remove more than 1 radiation or give advantages from radiation are useless.
It could be solved with designed levels (not random) in this case the game turns into a puzzle, but there is advantage - you can create up to 20 levels or maybe even more. Or if you want to keep this spirit of random adventure they should be at least less random and with different probability ranges for different levels.
