I love this cozy, intensely relatable snapshot: as short and sweet as it is, it hits on topics and a very specific feeling that larger and longer games chase after and rarely catch. There's a magic in the mundane that we too often overlook: the (often failed!) spells cast on cupboards and the fridge in search of food, even when we know full well they'll be empty; the conjured armor of need in going out in whatever clothes, unbossed and unbothered, which crumbles at the first touch of social interaction; the small electric spark of kismet in meeting someone new, and not knowing who they will be to you in the future, but trying to read your fortune in a smile or a shared glance.
Thank you for a beautiful glimpse into this slice-of-life. It's like light on water, an old and faded photograph, and a worn and favorite blanket, all at once. I felt each word in my sternum as I read it, and while I could easily gush for longer, I honestly don't know if I have words for how special that truly is. ❤️ Gorgeous work, and well done!
