A question for visual novel lovers and enthusiasts

I recently started working on a small project, but I'm wondering how negatively the community views a combat system within the project? Do you think it would be a positive addition?

For me: neutral. If the combat system works and the action makes sense with the story, then it can be fun.

(I avoid depictions of cigarette smokers, tho.)

Thanks, the character is also supposed to smoke according to the story, but it's something I'll keep in mind for the future if it becomes a problem.

I’d say that if the story to a Visual Novel calls for a combat system… it could make sense. I think that the art style and UI style of the combat system looking cohesive with the rest of the game can help, too.

Okay, I'm actually having doubts because I'd generally like to see something like that, but I understand that for some people that's what makes it a visual novel, so I think it's important to know the opinion of people more involved in the genre.

How about adult themes?  What do ppl think about intimate scenes and themes like in Witcher 3?   Nudity and violence?  How do these types of Visual Novels do?
