I just realized the protagonist's name is probably supposed to be pronounced like "Madeline", not like a product name.
were you pronouncing it like bumbline
now that i think about it, it is valid to pronounce "madeline" with an "i" rather than an "e" sound for the first phoneme of the last syllable. but i still just did not get the connection.
