I really don't know if we're still talking about Roads Yet Traveled, are we? I'm afraid your ADHD brain and my ASD brain don't make a good pair, haha.  Since you brought up the subject of alien devices in human brains, I wonder, what are the chances of Tucker having something similar?

Something is clearly wrong with him; all those hallucinations and numbness aren't normal. Could this be a side effect of his journey through the Mæron?

I'm torn between believing that the Mæron is a teleporter or a time machine, and so I've come to two obvious hypotheses.

Hypothesis A: Tucker was teleported somewhere in the universe with aliens that look like dogs.

Hypothesis B: The Mæron is actually a time machine created at some catastrophic point for humanity and later found by the alien dogs and used by them to bring Tucker to them in the future and then send him back to the past where he would create the machine to be used by the alien dogs and repeat the cycle

Definitely still talking about RYT. I'm just using it as an example writers use to explain the inexplicable, like how the human got wherever, can understand alien 👽 beings perfectly, how their space travel works, etc. RYT are using known science, even if only a little, it helps making it more believable and easier to understand. Unlike Adastra, which explained away those aforementioned issues using 'Parents, stretch drive, and the Mcguffin, er, Lingua' and that last option opens a massive can of worms 🪱 😉 🤔.  If the device can manipulate the motor functions, speech, vocalisations, including  the ability to perceive any  sentient beings language and translate it in real time. What else can it do we or even the beings they're installed into? It's not a stretch to think it could manipulate ones emotions, desires, visual perceptions. Basically it can modify whatever is needed so the host perception of reality, to whatever those controlling it want, ala The Matrix. Once they implant it, it's impossible for the host to know what they're experiencing is really their reality, not one meant to have you ignorant of your ACTUAL REALITY. Kinda like simulation theory. How would someone inside the simulation, know they're in a simulation if it's sufficiently accurate/believable to all possible senses? That's why I prefer what RYT did. They tried to make as much as they could be grounded in known theories, even if only slightly. Takes more effort than just saying 'it's magic," 😆.

Although RYT is based on science, I still think there's a bit of "magic" or science that's too absurd to be considered proper science. I mean, what are the chances of a canine-human species existing? Or worse, how do you explain Tucker's abnormal comprehension abilities? Even if the hallucinations are side effects of Mæron or just stress, I doubt any of them would give you the ability to understand the Carain language. The only explanations I can think of are time travel or parallel dimensions. I simply can't swallow that Tucker was simply transported to another place in the universe where a species so familiar to humans exists, not only in appearance but also in behavior and culture.

Hypothesis B gets you into the grandfather paradox, and it's more lazy writing. Why would they need Tucker to go back in time to build the machine in the first place? Not to mention, it doesn't explain how he's in a totally different solar system.  It being used to create a singularity, a singularity that can be manipulated. Manipulated incorrectly in this case, resulting in their sudden house guest appearing out of nowhere. One wrench 🔧  I have with my theory is. During his discussion with Tyr, Tyr said something like, "that's not possible, he would've had to make." Almost like he's seen the Mæron do something similar before, and he knows the cause and what the future holds for Tucker and him continuing being not dead 🤔 ☠️⚰️💀. Also it doesn't explain his ability to understand them, but they don't understand him. My theory is Tucker, somehow combined with a crew member that died due to 'the hum.' Maybe only parts of his mind were merged into Tucker's which would explain his speech ability and why he can't speak their language to them.

I like this theory where Tucker's mind could have merged with Carain's during his journey via Mæron. I even think that would explain the hallucinations and visions. Could the mascot be a personification of Carain's mind that merged with Tucker? Could the visions actually be memories of another person? I think the next update will bring us some answers regarding this. I really never tire of how you think (although it's a bit confusing sometimes).
