To be honest I found the game extremely disorienting lol. Going into the room with the camera changes was very difficult due to the flashlight being the only light source, so I had a hard time actually figuring out where I was going. I think that adding a faint glow that goes across the room from the computer screens would have helped a lot there from a disorientation standpoint, and a realism standpoint I guess lol.

I also found the controls showing incorrectly as kind of frustrating. I did read the instructions, but the lack of sounds for clarity made it difficult to know that what I did was actually working.

All that being said, given how precise you have to be when dealing with the entities, I think some polish would make this a pretty interesting game.

Developer

Thanks for playing!
Its true a glow would have helped a lot and 2 fixed cameras was not really necessary.
Yes the [click] would have been a inconvenience! and sound yeah its a major problem couldn't work on them.

I totally agree and am working on the UI right now for the game!
and reworking other things too such as camera and 3d models + sound and mainly dialogues!
Thanks for the feedback!

If you post an update to the game, even after the game jam is over, I'll check it out if you want as well :) At least once anyways haha. I'd love to see how you can improve it if you decide to! Game jams are a great place to learn and gather feedback, good luck on this and future projects!

I'll be glad if u did that, it will take some time to get it out there since i got college n all but i have plans to expand it and realize what i couldn't in the game jam but polish comes first and fixing what mistakes i have made :)

A good start, level and atmosphere is good. Definitely needs some sound and UI polishing.

Developer

Yeah UI is really lacking and audio too. Thanks for playing and the feedback!!

Virus total 99%/100% pretty perfect! (zip version) https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/0835139e43140f1bcca950016fa679b8564eca359e41e8ad2f7f7db6bde93f24

So what about game: I defeated the creature but didn’t know what to do next. I searched and searched but couldn’t find it.

Sounds are sorely lacking!

Overall, I like the idea of being able to walk around the house looking for someone; it’s intriguing.

did u defeat the 2nd one after defeating the first one u have to reset the router in the room to the left of the spawn then interact with the computer, press Z for router and computer! to get to the next stage and the last one :) looking forward for u to vanquish that one too!!

Sounds umm couldn't add, didn't have time for it but will for sure after the jam.
Whats the virus thing about?

Submitted(+1)

there is no viruses - it is godot typical stuff, ok i gonna try again and tell you my results

looks like i need help, i try but still not understand how to complete that xd.. now my bro is not defeating

Developer (1 edit)

sweet spot for the 1st one if like waiting for exactly 2 slow counts
:) if u got how to defeat the 1st one in the kitchen, defeat it then u navigate to the router it should be green by default press z after u approach it, then navigate to the bedroom and close to the computer press z again then go to the router again press z again then find the 2nd entity :) thats all

I thought the environment was pretty good and the story revolving around a cat was humorous.

I think it might be better to work on mechanics first then environment, I can't really be too critical since my environment in my game results in a crash if broken tho. I wasn't able to vanquish the entity but I did get to the part where I was supposed to grab coffee, unfortunately I wasn't sure where the coffee was. Is the coffee programmed in because if so I'd like to try finding it or progressing further somehow.
The change in camera is cool but going from first person to third person was really disorienting. I also wasn't able to hear any sound, but maybe my audio was messed up.

Developer

Hey! I'm really glad you played and enjoyed the environment and the cat story!

Please do vanquish this entity there is one more after this one but next 2 after that didn't make it during the integration but i'll update them after the jam!!

I'll keep in mind to work on the mechanics first. That is definitely a huge lesson learned for my next jam. I started this late on the 5th march and had to rush absolutely everything at the end!

To vanquish the entity: u have to get closer to it till u can see a square on the top left...the square was intended to be the camera autofocus box, after the box is visible u should stop and wait for 1.5 to 2 seconds before left clicking or like click just before the entity jumps you but keep in mind to not look away!
Being too close to the entity will also kill you you know they erode away reality :) hence can kill you!

About coffee its coded but not like integrated properly it can heal you energy after a close encounter with an entity, u can find one of the 7 on the sofa its a can like in the visuals

Glad you thought the camera switch was cool! Going from 1st to 3rd person can definitely be disorienting without a smooth transition i agree!
Sound I'm really sorry about that but i didn't get any time to add it in the game not even a bg sound. so your audio was perfectly fine

  • Please Download the .zip file not the .exe file
  • Important Controls: [Click] -> refers to pressing 'W' key -> only on router and computer.
  • [Left Mouse Click] -> for making dialogue go to next.
  • UI: For the First entity in the kitchen get close to it to vanquish it. By clicking left while looking at it an indicator will come up when you are close enough, click fast or slow will result in death.
  • There is no back or close button in the game either and ending so please press win key and close the game from there!

To read Immersive here is Gemini's version. [I wish to be more creative TwT]
    [ SYSTEM OVERRIDES ]

    • Communication: Use [Left Mouse Click] to advance the radio dialogue with your Boss.
    • The Interaction Glitch: When you approach the Wi-Fi Router or the Computer Desk, your corrupted UI will tell you to "Press [Click]". Do not click. The system is lying to you. You must press the [ W ] key to force the interaction.
[ ENTITY ENCOUNTER: THE KITCHEN ANOMALY ] If you encounter the entity in the kitchen, running is a death sentence. You must face it head-on.
    1. Walk directly toward the anomaly. Keep it centered in your vision.
    2. Wait until the Focus Indicator materializes on your screen.
    3. [Left Click] to vanquish it.
Warning: Precision is everything. If you panic and click too early, it will kill you. If you freeze and click too late, it will catch you. Hold your nerve.

[ CONTAINMENT BREACH: EXIT PROTOCOL ] The Split anomaly prevents conventional escapes. There is no in-game menu, and the simulation will not let you leave voluntarily. To sever the connection, you must force an OS override: Press the [ Windows Key ] and forcefully terminate the application from your desktop.
