I like the scenario of the game and the setup. I like these kinds of harvest and manage resources, manage your citizens and their stations and actions. It’s a real time strategy game, or at least a basis for one. It reminds me a little of that “A Dark Room” game. And the sounds are nice, and it’s nice to harvest things and hear your crew harvesting stone and wood. And the art is simple and retro, it’s nice.
But I think I don’t understand and I think the game doesn’t have a proper game loop? If I’m wrong, then I think this wasn’t clearly communicated. I know I can harvest things but I don’t know what to do with them, or how to automate what my characters do. Further, I couldn’t figure out how to play without a mouse to click on things to then interact with them. I had to right-click twice on each cell to then have an option to interact with it. And I don’t know how to do that with the keyboard.
I also feel that the map starts off quite big before we really understand how to navigate it, and I think I couldn’t do this with eyes closed. I would feel very lost. This would greatly benefit from a tutorial or at least a written guide to explain to us how to play. However, I’m looking forward to see this, if you’re thinking of updating it or doing a similar game in the future.
