ahhh!! You have such a masterful hold of pacing and voice. This was lovely and real and raw and relatable. Idk if you've seen it, but in the movie Nope by Jordan Peele, there's a theme of "negative miracles". When something profound happens, but it's wrapped in a bad event and doesn't, ultimately, have any deeper meaning even if you want it to. It just happened. It's so odd that, we often don't gather as a family outside of weddings and funerals. Those events aren't about "us" usually and you're left in this odd limbo of social interactions and family connections, not sure what "rules" to follow. It feels like it should be this big thing, but it's also a painfully, painfully normal day. Life keeps going, the world keeps turning and memories fade.

I really loved the art in this, it was so well framed with how it fit with the textboxes and the high contrast designs. You have such a good eye for balance and pacing, truly. I'll never stop being in awe of it. Each line is paced out like a spoken poem, it's beautiful.

Thank you for making this. Obviously I don't know if this is based on true events, that's your business. But there's no wrong way to grieve. And I think processing loss and pain through art is *super* normal and a good way to process. It's good to tell stories. These are how memories and life and humanity are passed on. We stand on the shoulders of the giants of all the stories and lives that came before us. Ahh Sorry I'm getting to existential haha.

Never stop creating Oxy, you have an amazing voice to share <3

omg thank you so much for such a detailed comment!!

i gotta watch nope at some point, everything i've heard about it makes it sound right up my alley haha. i agree 100% with your description of weddings and funerals; they're really big events, and they can definitely feel super important, but they can also feel odd, or painfully normal, or just like you're not feeling what you "should" feel. it's definitely something i wanted to touch on with this game; sometimes things happen and maybe they have a deeper meaning or not, but unless you find one, it's impossible to tell.

i'm glad you liked the art! the rougher sketching was kind of a departure of my usual style (seabound nonwithstanding), and i'm honestly really happy with the result :> i did have to navigate through wanting to fix every single pixel that looked slightly off haha.

please do go deep and existential when reviewing, that's what we're here for! :D to me, grief is one of the most complex and hauntingly expansive feelings that can be explored in art. everyone goes through it differently, and everyone, if they choose to show it in art, displays it differently. and it's daunting to look back and realize just how much everything is built upon people who are gone, from our lives, to our art, to all the knowledge we have. and sometimes it can feel like your actions or thoughts or feelings are doing them a disservice. but we have to keep going, always. that's what they'd want for everyone.

thank you for playing, and thank you for taking the time to write this comment. it's always a pleasure to get a piece of your thoughts <3
