Let’s follow Gulp through a high-stakes turn. He’s already lost 1 Heart because he tried to eat a glowing mushroom earlier. He’s down to his last life.
Round 4: Gulp’s "Shiny-Bones" Gamble
The Goal: Gulp needs Four-of-a-Kind to stay in the game.
- Toss 1: Gulp rattles the bones and throws: [4] [4] [1] [1] [6]
- Panic: Two 1s. If he rolls one more 1, he’s hitting the SPLAT! Table.
- Decision: Keep the two [4]s. Re-roll the others.
- Toss 2: He throws the three dice: [4] [1] [2]
- Sweat: Still just three [4]s total. And there’s that pesky [1] again.
- Decision: Keep the three [4]s. One last roll to get the fourth [4].
- Toss 3 (Final Roll): He screams and throws the last two dice: [3] [6]
- FAILURE. He only has Three-of-a-Kind. That’s worth points, but he really wanted that Four-of-a-Kind slot filled.
The "One More!" Moment
Gulp refuses to accept his fate. He triggers the ONE MORE! rule. He picks up one extra die (the 6th "lucky" die from Snarl, who died last round).
- The Stakes: If he rolls a [4], he gets Four-of-a-Kind + 10 bonus points. If he rolls anything else, he takes 1 Heart of damage. Since he only has 1 Heart left... he will die.
- The Roll: The die skitters across the stone floor... it’s a [5].
The Aftermath: Gore & Glory
- The Spasm: Gulp misses. He takes -1 Heart.
- Death: Gulp hits 0 HP. He collapses, his heart literally bursting from the stress.
- The Score: He gets 0 points for this round.
- The Obituary: You write on your sheet: "Here lies Gulp, who was turned into Soup after a math error."
- The Loop: Now you only have Itchy and Toof left. You feel the "one more to go" urge—you have to make Gulp’s death count.
The Next Turn: Itchy steps up. Because Gulp died, Itchy gets to use the "Waste Not" rule.
- The Choice: Does Itchy eat Gulp's liver to heal back to 2 HP (but lose his re-rolls next turn), or does he just take Gulp’s lucky dice and keep rolling?
