This is really nice! I love the system as a whole. Moving and aiming is a shared system? Count me in! The eyeball theme is also really nice. It ties the game together super nicely, and makes every element of the game really obvious without needing much text. Well done! Also, the boss battle felt fun and enjoyable too! Rarely I see a game doing everything so nicely in a game jam, so kudos for that.

Other things I like:

  • Simple controls with controller support, never tried keyboard but controller plays super smoothly
  • The difficulty of the game feels nice, not too hard but challanging at the same time
  • Nice checkpoint placement

Suggestions:

  • Jump mechanic felt out of place as it does not align with other mechanics. It's also not used in the final battle, which is a shame
  • Normal enemies (the tall one) should have a defeat animation, where it currently just disappears
  • Finally boss lacks a bullet hell spread shot, which makes it kind of easy once you figure out how to side step

Anyway, this is a really good entry, and I bet with some more content, this could very well be a good steam game! Well done!

Thank you for this amazing comment!!! I love your suggestions and agree completely, i think the jump mechanic would be aligned more if you were like shooing some sort of trigger that shot you up from the floor or just incorporated into the world design better. one of the limitations i set for myself for this jam was no animating, but it really would add so much to the experience i almost wish this was a two week jam
