Really fun idea! I though the blue+purple level was hard and then the double jump level started and I really had to lock in. Made it to the ball pit eventually.
I'm not sure the colour transition had to be a gradual process. It looks neat but if it was just a button press to instantly switch I think the game would be a lot easier to play. It would also be nice to be able to go backwards from red to violet.
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, in initial stages the phase change was discrete rather than gradual, but it felt like I wasn't embracing continuous movement in the 4th dimension. However, for gameplay purposes it does seem like it would be a far better design. This went through several iterations and experiments, and I didn't test it with users so this is very valuable feedback. I think I'll update it and improve it even after the jam ends.
If you wanted to keep the continuous change an idea would be to make "close" colours act differently. Like if you were Orange, you could land on Orange platforms like usual, but you would fall through Red and Yellow like quicksand (giving you time to jump again and change to Orange), and all other colours were intangible like they are now.
Either way you want to go with it, let me know if you update it, I'd be happy to playtest,
