ahh this was due to a 2 second invulnerability you get after being hit but I didn't get a chance to throw a label up stating that 

Oh I see. A blinking effect might help for that. 
That said, maybe there's a bug on the invincibility then, because waiting more than five seconds in between hits didn't change anything.
Anyway, good luck with the jam!

that was the intended idea visually but didn't get the time with some life things, and that's weird it should be 3 hits and then death il check it again now
