Bonus Damage when attacking with aux weapon on main/aux mount

I was running some test combats, and one mech I was testing was the Mourning Cloak with Variable Sword and Fold Knife on its main/aux. When skirmishing, I used the Fold Knife first to get some extra distance with the Hunter talent, but it ended up consuming the bonus damage from OpCal as well as the frame’s Hunter trait despite the aux weapon being unable to do so. Additionally, this meant that upon a critical hit with the Variable Sword, it still did a static 3 damage rather than getting its bonus 1d6.

Sooo throughout the process of making LT I’ve been regularly finding things that I have just been wrong about rules-wise. I’ve been under the impression that it’s the second attack you make from a mount that can’t do the bonus damage, regardless of its size. I now understand that it’s the aux weapon that shouldn’t do bonus damage, even if it’s used first. Logged and will be fixed, thanks for the report 👍

thats true *if the overpower caliber was attached to tthe main*
if it was attached to the knife then it would totally be fine, right? aux can have opcav

I’m told that that’s a footgun; while nothing RAW specifically bars it, doing so is a no-op and it should never be able to do that bonus damage. So adjusting the rules in LT to match will include a UI update that disallows doing so.
