Is there an issue with leaving the cage at the start? I pull the lever but nothing really happens. Am I missing something? Please do let me know if I'm just doing something wrong

just something I noted in level 2. If you walk past a certain point on the bottom level as the girl, the last painting location disappears. Otherwise I had fun! Nice job :)
I don't know if it was how I was meant to do it, but I found if I just picked up the box and ran I had enough time to get out from the gate haha! I did enjoy it but.
