Monster Codex: The Centaur
Centaurs are part human, part equine creatures that inhabit mountainous regions of the world. Their equine lower half gives these creatures immense speed and strength, allowing them to gallop at speeds of around 40 kilometres per hour. Their humanoid upper half also possesses incredible strength, with the average centaur being noticeably stronger than the average human.
Centaurs live in nomadic groups with five to twelve members on average. These herd members are fiercely protective of each other and will cause severe damage to anything they deem a threat.
Centaurs have slightly below human levels of intelligence, being closer to dogs or pigs in terms of intellect. However, much like cyclopes, they seem to have primitive societal structures and tool usage. As such, it is believed centaurs should be given the rights of other sapient beings.
The centaur is a popular heraldry symbol due to their strength and their loyalty to their kin.
