This game is so hot buns man
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed this book, I hate it. It made me feel such raw visceral emotion in the worst way possible and I physically squirmed in my seat during the club scene.
GOD I hate how you write, your writing isn't bad, no, (I thought the story was good overall, and the characters felt like they could be real people) I just hate all the text effects. It's like you found out how to alter text in ren'py and just went ballistic and it is so incredibly annoying to read through. Every scene felt so incredibly emotionally charged, which isn't inherently a bad thing (you can write a good emotionally charged scene), but you leave no time for the reader to breathe, it's always one event after the other, and some interactions just feel forced, such as Eco and Atticus' argument after visiting the Vermilion.
Now for stuff I like about the VN. The story was a low 7/10 for me, the 'other worldly/cosmic horror' plot is well overdone, but Reconnected is done well. The characters are well written and are convincing enough, with flaws that make me love them at some times and hate them at others. I am always biased towards a fantasy sci-fi/space faring/other world VN, so I loved the setting. The world building is competent, I would've preferred a deeper look into some of the cultures and worlds, but that obviously isn't the focus of the book. The visuals are great, although Kai's sprites are somewhat inconsistent.
