LOL yeah i was burning at a few different ends for this, appropriate for the subject matter. sans audiovisual assets though this was mostly a solo dev thing, BVSSIC was really supportive and helped hold my hand through hooking up the audio and keeping me focused there, but it really was mostly just me getting up whenever i got up, working far too late, and sleeping far too little. by the end i lost five pounds, my body went into starvation mode after a three-day stint with 1200 cals and ten hours of sleep between them, and i had hundreds of files hooked up. the animations were also all done by me, though i used what i had with the models bc all the models that are animated use the same base model. even the hawks, they're just the dogs but with huge stretched hands and more birdlike motion.

if i had another coder on the team i'd have been freed up quite a bit to address all those other concerns. was really suffering trying to fit menus in near the end so yeah i didn't have contextual control schemes. the heat being -9 trillion or whatever was just me making absolute sure the game goes to death state, as well as communicating to the player that they've reached death state bc i didn't make it very obvious when you're dead. so it's just a funny holdover that i kept in 💀the cutscenes are skippable though, including the death screen! in this version of the game it's actually preferable to skip the intro because there's a bug that makes the start menu inaccessible if you play out the whole cutscene, which is annoying asf.

also, i voice acted the intro and the ending of the game, if you saw it floating around the comments! BVSSIC did the death monologue, and processed both of our reads to fit them into the tone of the game. i'm glad people like my voice acting, BVSSIC's been around the block doing audio for short films and stuff but it's actually something i've taken an unexpected amount of pride in for this game.

thanks so much for the feedback! i'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
